About us

How we work, and what we will not do to win your business

We help foreign founders register and run companies in China across seven cities, with a specialism at the two ends of the market: trading WFOEs in Yiwu and corporate structures in Shanghai. This page is about method: how we quote, what we will not do, and how we decide when a city or a structure is wrong for you.

An advisory conversation about setting up in China

The approach, stated plainly

We help foreign businesses register and run companies in China, across seven cities, with a specialism at the two ends of the market: traders in Yiwu who source from the market and export, and corporate parents in Shanghai who need a subsidiary with real substance. Most of what we do is unglamorous and procedural, and most of the value is in getting the unglamorous parts right the first time so a filing is not returned, a bank account is not delayed, and an incentive is not later challenged.

The market we operate in has a trust problem, and we have built the firm around not being part of it. A great deal of the advice foreign founders receive is optimised for the sale rather than for the founder: a suspiciously low quote that omits the running costs, a promise to arrange an invitation letter, a hint that the right connections can push a file through. Each of those is common, and each is a risk transferred quietly onto the client. We do the opposite, and the sections below describe how.

Our specialism is the two ends of the foreign-business spectrum in China, and that shapes everything. A trader in Yiwu sourcing from the market and a finance director in Shanghai standing up a subsidiary have almost nothing in common: different questions, different fears, different vocabulary, even different messaging apps. Most firms run one voice across every client and serve one of those two well at best. We built the firm to understand both, because the trader who needs export rights and family residence and the corporate parent who needs the right zone and clean transfer pricing are genuinely different jobs, and pretending they are the same is how advice goes generic.

We also treat facts as things to source and date rather than to assert. The rules that govern a China setup change, sometimes quickly, and a tax rate or a customs mode that was true last year may not be true now. So we tie claims to their sources and their dates, we flag what we cannot yet verify rather than papering over it, and we tell you when something is about to change, such as an incentive with an expiry date approaching. A firm that states everything with equal confidence, including the things it is guessing, is not being helpful, and getting a date wrong on a YMYL matter is not a small error.

What we stand for

The commitments that actually distinguish a firm here

Not slogans. These are the two things a foreign founder is most often burned on in this market, and the two we hold to.

We quote the whole cost

When we give you a number, we name what sits outside it: registered capital, government fees, apostille and translation, office rent and audit. A headline price that hides those is not a lower price, it is a smaller quote.

  • No hidden line items, stated before you commit
  • Government fees passed through at cost

We tell you what will not work

If a WFOE is the wrong tool, if a virtual address will fail your bank, or if a city does not fit what you do, we say so before you pay, not after. Advice comes before the invoice.

  • The right city and structure decided first
  • We turn away work that is the wrong fit

Who will handle your matter

When you book a call, we tell you exactly who would handle your matter and what they have done. The firm behind this site is Scott Info Consulting Co., Ltd., based in Pudong, Shanghai.

Questions about the firm

Straight answers about how we operate

What makes you different from a cheap corridor agent?

We tell you what a setup actually costs, including the parts a cheap quote leaves out, and we tell you when a city or a structure is wrong for you even if it costs us the sale. We do not sell invitation letters, we do not imply influence over officials, and we do not guarantee outcomes that bureaus and banks decide. The difference is that we would rather lose a sale than mislead you into one.

Do you guarantee my company will be approved?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Licences, bank accounts, work permits and incentives are decided by government bodies and banks, not by us. What we control is the quality and completeness of what we file, which is what actually improves your odds and your speed. We advise, prepare and accompany; we do not decide, and we will not pretend to.

Judge us on a call, not a brochure

The honest way to assess a firm like this is to describe your situation and see whether the advice is straight, including when the straight advice is inconvenient for us. That is the conversation we want to have.
